The culmination of God’s plan for this world is described in the last book of the Bible, the Revelation of the Apostle John. Of the book’s twenty-two chapters, two contain letters to the seven churches in Asia and twenty describe the series of visions that John received. It is these visions that Anneke Kaai have portrayed in her series of twenty-four paintings. These detailed and strongly figurative works attempt to bring the biblical account closer to the imagination of the readers. The message can be summarized as one of hope: despite the desperate suffering in the world, all things are leading to a new heaven and earth, where Christ is victorious!
