APOCALYPSE

The culmination of God's plan for this world is described in the last book of the Bible, the Book of Revelation. It comprises of twenty-two chapters, two of wich contain the letters to the seven Churches. The remaining twenty chapters record a series of visions, and it was these visions which provided the source of my inspiration.
Difficulties are often encountered in trying to understand the visions as they are formidable, both in number and nature. It was this very problem, that gave me the impetus to portray them. With God's help, this series of twenty-four paintings came to stand. They have been painted with oils on silk, and mixed media have been used to try and convey the radiance of the visions.
The personal reason for my work is to convey the comforting message that despite all the awful things happening in the world, the new heaven and the new earth will arise - the new Jeruzalem. Christ is victorious!
